Diamond wire saw, also known as diamond wire, refers to the method of fixing diamond abrasive on metal wire by electroplating process or resin bonding.
In the 1990s, in order to solve the problem of processing large-size silicon wafers, the international community adopted wire saw processing technology to cut silicon rods into slices. The early wire saw processing technology used exposed metal wire and free abrasive. During the processing, the abrasive was added as a third party between the metal wire and the workpiece to produce a cutting effect. This technology has been successfully used in the processing of silicon and silicon carbide. In order to further shorten the processing time and process other hard materials and difficult-to-process ceramics, people fixed diamond abrasives to the metal wire in a certain way, thus producing fixed diamond wire saws.
1. Electroplating type: A linear superhard material tool made by depositing a layer of metal (generally nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy) on the metal wire by electroplating, and consolidating diamond abrasives in the metal. The metal coating is a binder, and the diamond abrasive is used for cutting.
Electroplated diamond wire saws can be made into different diameters and lengths according to needs; wire saws can be installed on different equipment to form different processing methods, such as reciprocating (saw frame), high-speed band saw, wire cutting, etc. For the processing of hard and brittle materials, wire saws can not only cut thin sheets, but also process curved surfaces, and can be used for the research and development of small holes. Its application prospects are broad. At present, the most mature domestic enterprises producing electroplated diamond wire saws are Nanjing Sanchao New Materials Co., Ltd., which has early R&D investment and strong technical strength.
2. Resin type: Use resin as a binder to fix diamond abrasives on metal wires.
